# THE TRUTH
ABOUT DREAMS
#
Dreams we
learn in the Quran and Sunnah can occur form Allah (SWT) and they can occur
from Shayytan too. Even comes from our own imagination. Dreams are of three
types...
1.
Dreams of
imagination: In Arabic this is called
(Hadith Al Nafs) comes from our imagination. For example, imagine someone
wishing a car that might be beyond from his class. He is thinking about it,
daydreaming. He go to sleep and dreams of it, driving the car. This is
''HADEES-UN-NAFS ''. There are special groups of scientists who study dreams. It interesting if they fell asleep on the job
they're the only group of people that can say we're working while we fall
asleep. However, scientists tell us that these kind of dreams occur every
night.
There's a
phase in our sleep when it’s called REM (Rapid eye movement) phase when we
actually dream. The sign of this dreams are potential. Dream is absolutely
fresh to the dreamer but then within 5 seconds what happens? It's gone......
This is the
indication dreams based on our daily work-life. While dreaming, if someone
throws water on your face, you might feel that you are drowning or something.
If you hear your alarm clock go off it will somehow affect your dream. You will
something will happen in your dream.
This type of
dream has nothing to do with good or bad. It's our own imagination (HADEES-UN-NAFS)
and the sign is we don't remember at all.
2.
A nightmare,
Evil Dream:
It is called in Arabic ''HULM'' which means
none other than an evil dream. In English we call it nightmare and these types
of dreams are from shaytaan. The sign of this dream is that it terrifies us. We
might see something Evil, something disgusting. Experiencing loved one die in a
miserable death. Or a car accident. Probably being chased by evil, aliens or
beasts or something like this. This type of dream is just the shayateen wanting
to irritate you. They try to frustrate us. These types of dreams are never
true. Nobody should believe this dream, nobody should believe nightmares and
our Prophet (SAW) said that nightmares should not be told to anybody
Once a man
came to the Prophet (SAW) and he said, “O messenger of Allah! I saw my head get
cut off in the dream and it was rolling like a ball and I’m running after it to
pick it up”. The Prophet (SAW) forbade that man to tell other people how
shaytaan played with him last night.
There are some sign of this type of dream? One
may wake up terrified, sweating in the middle of the night conforming himself what
was that? How! What did I see? This is the sign, its form shaytaan.
Shaytaan
does not know the future. At night we might see ourselves in a car accident and
the next morning we call and say I’m not going to go to work, because I don't
want to drive. It’s not appropriate. If we follow it and believe it, shaytaan
is the one who will be the winner attacking the firewall of our iman.
The Prophet
(SAW) said, If you wake up with a type of nightmare, seek refuge to Allah, say
(aauzu biallahi minash shaytaaner raazim). Also the Prophet (SAW) said
Whatever
side you're on, turn to the other side. Why? Because shaytaan is around you or
sitting on your facing side. As long as you say ( aauzu billah) and you turn
around, he flee and run away. The Prophet (SAW) said if it's really bad then
even stand up and pray “Two Rakaat of Salah” to seek refuge from shaytaan and
to establish that relationship with Allah. Whatever you do you, don't tell
anybody not your loved ones, not your spouse, not your friends, nobody.
3.
"Mubashshiraath" or also called in Arabic "RU'YAH" and
"RU'YAH" is a vision from Allah. It is a positive dream and it will
be not a cause of waking up at the midnight terrified and frightened.
What dose
Mubashshir mean?
Glad tidings
good news. Something optimistic or even if it's not positive if will be a
factual statement. It will be something true and not something terrifying.
What is the
sign of this type of dream?
One will
wake up remembering the dream vividly, so it's not "Hadees-un-nafs"
and you will wake up not in a terrified state. When these two conditions are
met it is very possible, very likely that it is a "Mubashshir".
Sometimes we wake up in a positive state because something positive and good
experience stores in our subconscious mind.
